Known as one of the greatest works in personal propaganda ever written, Gaius Julius Caesar himself details his famous conquest of Gaul, avenging a societal grudge stretching back nearly 500 years when a force comprised of Celts, heralding from Gaul, sacked Rome itself. This text, in the time of Caesar, bolstered his name among the People of the collapsing Republic, granting him a mandate that would eventually lead to Caesar assuming the position of First Emperor of Rome. This is the De Bello Gallico or the Conquest of Gaul.
